CRHDC has spearheaded one of the country’s largest migrant farm worker housing projects in the San Luis Valley – home to Colorado’s poorest population. With more than 500 units of migrant farm worker housing, CRHDC has helped create a stable work force for local farmers facing an increasingly tight labor market by providing safe, affordable living conditions for farm workers and their families. Many workers with families now stay year-round instead of leaving for the winter. This means business owners don’t have to spend additional dollars re-training workers each growing season, and farm workers can live with dignity. CRHDC will soon break ground on Alta Vista de la Montana, a 40 family rental unit property for farmworkers in Delta, Colorado.
Other CRHDC Multi-family housing developments include Casas de Rio Grande, a 28 unit Senior Housing development in Delta, Colorado, the rehab of 24 senior/disabled housing units called La Hacienda del Norte, also in Del Norte, and Castle Valley Ranch, a 24 unit senior housing development in New Castle, Colorado.
CRHDC is a member of the national NeighborWorks Rural Initiative that builds the capacity of rural community development organizations through housing and economic development.
